Volunteer with us now!

Life Target is to be a 24-hour, confidential violence prevention Hotline for anyone in emotional distress who is considering violence.

We need volunteers to staff Life Target and invite those who are interested in helping us to open the Hotline to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

Volunteering will be at least once a week with a minimum commitment of six months.

SEEKING: A team with guts achieving the opening of the first hotline whose mission is to prevent violence and homicide.

Are you passionate about being part of a new resource to prevent violence and homicide?

LIFE TARGET, based in NYC would love you to join us! We are a new non-profit 501(c)3 organization looking for passionate change-makers who would donate their time to help set-up a violence and homicide prevention hotline to open at the beginning of 2017!

Are you a self-motivated, innovative, and results-oriented person?

LIFE TARGET is looking for enthusiastic and organized volunteers who can commit to a minimum of three hours per week.

Volunteers will assist with an assortment of administrative tasks, which include drafting press releases, internet research, making phone calls, working on special projects, and different campaigns.

Experience in grant writing would be a plus!

Qualifications: Excellent organizational written and verbal skills, computer literate and passionate and respectful towards people in despair.

Time Commitment: As needed – some projects can be done offsite- commitment to be discussed.

SEEKING: A team of budget specialists, able to achieve a complete budget for Life Target and its future hotline whose mission is the prevention of violence and homicide. Project completion target date is November 2016.

Experience in Creating a Hotline Budget Would be a Plus
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
At least 1 year solid track record of financial or budgeting experience with a development or non-profit organization
Budget development, financial analysis and reporting, cash flow analysis, and forecasting
Demonstrated ability to work independently and deliver on time
Experience working with donors and partners
Professional interpersonal skills, articulate, and excellent communication skills
Passionate and respectful towards people in despair

SEEKING: A gutsy team of legal service and criminal defense counselors, to:

1) Create a complete legal protection team for Life Target and its future hotline whose mission is the prevention of violence and homicide to be set up by November 2016

2) By September 2016 set up a complete legal protection team for Life Target and its future blog and live chat whose mission is the prevention of violence and homicide.

Are you a self-motivated, innovative, and results-oriented person?

We are looking for legal specialists to provide legal protection and legal services to Life Target, and Life Target Hotline, its blog and live chat project – see website: www.lifetarget.org.

The volunteers would act as legal representation on behalf of Life Target, to offer advice on legal services and criminal defense matters and other legal issues. Volunteers will research and prepare legal documents for the benefit of Life Target in order to open the hotline by the beginning of 2017. Volunteers should have knowledge of national homicide law, and issues, such as whether Life Target Hotline would need to be operated in a state other than NY.

Requirements

To have Life Target and its team legally secure a.s.a.p. and have all legal documentation for the Life Target Hotline, its team and operators by November 2016 at the latest.
Bachelor’s Degree in Law
Relevant experience is essential
Passionate and dedication to work for this cause
Work with maturity and professionalism.

SEEKING:

a) Professional counselors capable of preparing the psychological training materials for Life Target’s hotline operator team, whose mission is the prevention of violence and homicide.
b) Professional counselors capable of preparing an appropriate operating manual for Life Target’s live chat operators whose mission is the prevention of violence and homicide

Life Target plans to create a group of diverse mental health specialists to train and prepare:

Future operators working for Life Target Hotline including:
The best ways to speak to each caller and counsel their need for immediate help, as well as set up systems so as to be able to offer future support and long-term counseling.

Mental Health Professional Position Requirements:

Master’s level degree, licensed or working toward licensure (minimum) in counseling, social work, or related field. Two years of experience is also preferable.

Mental Health Professional Responsibilities:

  • Having a precedent experience in crisis prevention, a definite plus
  • Liaise with Life Target’s legal team.
  • Be open to contribute their ideas with other Life Target staff/volunteers so as to create the best intervention assistance for any situation a caller is facing.
  • Prepare, maintain and update training documentation for counselors/operators.
  • Commitment to volunteer for a minimum of 8 consecutive months
  • Be on-call in the event he/she is needed by another counselor or staff member. In this way, the mental health professional will do his or her best to meet with each counselor individually throughout the week for “counselor brainstorm sessions” including the President of Life Target.

SEEKING: Expert knowledge of WordPress and/or creating a blog and/or live chat and/or creating an App. and/or genius in social media to spread Life Target’s mission throughout the US and its future hotline for the prevention of violence and homicide. Impeccable English is also essential.

Activities:

Update WordPress site for page content: text/articles, photos and new pages, customizing menu
Back up the WordPress portion of the website
Post videos on YouTube and WordPress, when needed
Monitor social media sites on a daily basis
Post stories on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
Create a chat/blog
Create a Life Target App.

Qualifications:

Advanced knowledge of WordPress
Mastery of HTML and CSS
Proficiency in basic Adobe, Photoshop or Gimp for photo editing and resizing
Proficiency with social media
Excellent communication skills
Impeccable English
Passionate and respectful towards people, especially those in despair

LIFE TARGET is seeking a fundraising team to help us grow our programs, staff, volunteers and operations. Previous experience with grant making, fundraising, and foundations would be highly valued.

Responsibilities:

Grant Management:
Research grants and funding opportunities for Life Target.

Write grant applications

Oversee grants awarded to Life Target and ensure compliance

Build relationships with foundations and other grant makers to improve Life Target applications

Manage donor relations
Pursue other fundraising opportunities, such as partnerships and revenue generation, as needed
Qualifications:

Excellent and succinct writer and communicator
Basic knowledge of grant making and foundations a must
Experience with grant writing, fiscal sponsorship, and impact metrics a plus
Passionate and respectful towards people in despair
Honors commitments and meets deadlines
Collaborative team player who’s excited to be a part of shaping the direction of Life Target
Flexible and comfortable with an alternative and frequently changing startup environment
Eager and quick learner who’s not afraid of a challenge
Bachelor’s degree required, graduate students or Master’s degree preferred
